About

What is RPI TV?

RPI TV is the student-run television station for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (we do not manage the cable TV service, for issues regarding that, contact IT Operations). We currently broadcast all our shows on channel 6 of the campus television network. We film lots of different things on campus, including football games, hockey games, news programs, cultural performances, Student Senate meetings, and live airings of the GM Week Debates. You can check out all our upcoming shows on the broadcast schedule, or browse everything we've produced in our productions database.

RPI TV Meetings

RPI TV has meetings every Tuesday at 9:30 PM in Union 3202. New members are always welcome; just show up! You can check out our meeting schedule on the schedule page. If you are interested but can't make it to a meeting, you can e-mail rpitv@union.rpi.edu for more information.

If you missed a meeting and want to know what happened, you can find minutes from all our business meetings in the meeting documents section.

Have an idea?

If you'd like to create a new program at RPI TV, we can work with you to make your idea a reality. Even if you're not a member yet, new programs are welcome. The first step towards putting together a program is to submit a proposal to the programming committee. A program proposal should be no more than a page, and must make clear the intended tone and content of the program as well as contain a brief synopsis. You don't need to include details, but please outline plans for any potential resources that the program may need, including budget, props, actors, etc.

Here's a sample proposal: Pistols at Dawn Proposal (PDF)

Questions? Stop by a meeting or e-mail the Programming Committee: rpitv-prog@union.rpi.edu

If you don't have an idea yet, there's still plenty of opputunities to get involved at RPI TV. Stop by a business meeting, and you can connect with other members and work together writing, shooting, and editing exciting new programs. We hope to see you there!
